Weddings are anything but boring these days. Intimate wedding ceremonies and celebrations allow the couple time to focus on each other first and foremost. They are usually more flexible by nature so we can move about the cabin, explore the city or have an adventure for your big day. It's intimate, it's romantic, and it's all about the two of you. It's a reminder that at the end of the day, it's not about the venue or the decorations or the guest list. It's about the love that you share. For many couples, getting married at the courthouse is a practical choice. Maybe you're on a tight budget or you don't want the stress of planning a big wedding. Or maybe you just want to keep things simple and focus on what really matters: your love and commitment to each other.

Austin Courthouse wedding FAQWhat to expect when getting married at the courthouse….
-
The ceremony is typically only 5-8 min long. So lots of time to take photos before and/or after the ceremony.
-
Absolutely! Just let the judge know so they can prompt you when it’s time.
-
The short answer is yes but each courtroom has different rules for the max number of guests so check with the clerk beforehand.
-
The marriage license can be obtained at the Travis County Clerk's office located at 1700 Guadalupe for $80 and it’s good for 89 days. The judge’s fee is separate and typically ranges from $100 to $300, and is paid for in cash. Be sure to confirm the price when you schedule your ceremony.

Most Austin courthouse and elopement photographers charge between about $750 and $2,500, depending on how much time and how many photos are included. My courthouse collections start at $600 for 30 minutes and 30 edited images. If you'd like ceremony photos plus portraits, the 1-hour Sweet collection starts at $750 for weekday weddings.
-
No. Texas doesn't require witnesses for your marriage to be legal, so it can be just the two of you and the judge.
-
At Travis County Justice of the Peace Precinct 5, ceremonies can be booked up to 3 months in advance, and popular times like Fridays and Saturdays fill up first. As soon as you've secured your date with the courthouse, book your photographer so your date is held. Then get your marriage license 3 to 89 days before the wedding: you have to wait 72 hours after it's issued, and it's only good for 89 days.
