Q: Tell us about the details.
A: "We focused the majority of our energy and details on the reception because we primarily wanted the day to feel like a big party. We chose to have a brunch wedding because we thought it would provide a more relaxed and casual atmosphere than a night party. Plus, brunch foods are our favorite kind of foods, and we knew we could provide enough variety that our guests could enjoy the food as well. Star Hill Ranch provided an excellent combination of beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces (as well as a rain plan!) that they were an easy choice as our venue. We knew they could accommodate the cozy and fun ranch outdoor brunch vibe we were going for. "
Q: What was your favorite part of the wedding planning?
A: "Our favorite part of the process was how easy and fun it was having hired Kate, our wedding planner. Living in Hawaii and trying to plan a wedding in Austin, TX (nearer to our friends and family) would have been a frustrating disaster without all of Kate's knowledge and guidance. She made the large and intimidating process of planning a wedding (especially from nearly 5K miles away!) seem totally doable and even enjoyable. "
Q: Tell us about a memorable moment at the wedding.
A: "Nearly everyone has told us how touched they were by how honest our vows were to each other, and especially how verklempt Kevin got when presenting his vows. We've had several of our friends and family tell us, "I was holding it together until Kevin started crying, and then I couldn't help but start crying!"
Q: What was your favorite part of the day?
A: "Our favorite part of the day was the overall feeling of our wedding--everything went absolutely as well as we could have hoped for. Our main goal was to have the ceremony was short and sweet and the reception be long and fun--we absolutely achieved that. In addition, the rain in the forecast never came through, there was plenty of tasty food and booze for everyone, and everyone thought the venue was quaint and wonderful. To see our vision come together so nicely and knowing that everyone else was having just as much fun as we were meant that the worst part of the wedding was it being over!"
