ABOUT A FIGHTING WOMAN Amy Peterson is a wife and mother of two who has been battling multiple sclerosis since she was a teen. She's currently in Moscow, Russia, on a quest to stop the progression of her disease and reverse some of the damage that's been done to her body. The stem cell transplantation, which is currently not available to Amy in the US, will give her immune system a makeover with no memory of ms. She's blogging her journey at www.amygoesninja.wordpress.com. So far $74,275 of the $80,000 she needs has been raised. We're getting close!

ABOUT A SELFLESS SERVANT I'm teaming up on this project with my friend Joy. I can't tell you about this project without also mentioning that Joy herself recently found out she has Colon Cancer. This amazing woman, wife, and mother, who is currently going through treatment herself, decided to re-direct her focus by serving someone else. I'm completely in awe of Joy's compassion and encouraged by her selflessness. The fact that I get to know and be friends with both of these women has been such a blessing and we can all learn from both of their journeys. I have been encouraged by their faith, positive attitudes, and the hope that they find through all of this in our creator.

Please use the link below to help Amy!

HOEDOWN fer a HEIFER {Giving Back}

For those of you that know me, you know that I am a humanitarian. I am passionate about people and social justice. So when my friend Hannah told me that she was putting on a event to benefit Heifer International I was more than excited to be a part. Heifer is an amazing organization helping in a way that empowers people to help themselves by giving livestock. When you give livestock you not only provide food but a way to generate income as well so they get a hand up in life and not just a hand out. Please take the time to check out their site and get involved. They also have great resources for teaching children about poverty and sustainable development.This post would not be complete without first telling you how awesome Hannah is. She is the creative genius behind this event and after living in Austin such a short time I have no clue how she has so many connections and knows crazy amounts of awesome people. If I were doing my wedding all over again I'd hire Hannah to design it. I also want to give a big internet hug and shout out to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and bands. Check them out on the Hoedown website.
