Prospect House Wedding | Jillian + Joshua

Q:  How did you meet?

A:  Josh and I met through Austin Sports & Social. My company pulled together a kickball team, and I worked with one of Josh's high school classmates. Turns out, not all our trusty co-workers showed up for our first game, so we needed extra players to avoid forfeiting. My co-worker called a couple of his buddies, including Josh, to come play on our team. We all went out to celebrate the victory of our first game. Josh and I shared a moment at the jukebox at Pour House (R.I.P Pour House) and over some Mexican martinis at Trudy's, and the rest is history.

Q:  Tell us about your wedding details

A:  Prospect House was the second venue we toured, and we knew as soon as we walked in, we were getting married there. The feeling was similar to how we felt when we walked into the home we ended up purchasing together. We assumed that if we got married in the hill country, we'd have to go the rustic barn house route. Prospect House is a beautiful juxtaposition - a modern, architectural masterpiece in the middle of the hill country, so it was the best of both worlds for us.

Q: What was your favorite part of the wedding day?

A: Our favorite part of the wedding, by far, was our first look. An hour before our ceremony, Josh and I saw each other and read our vows in private, while my girlfriends and our mothers peeked from a distance. I walked up behind Josh and embraced him. The moment I wrapped my arms around him, I felt a sigh of relief and felt as if we might float away together. The day-of nerves are inevitable, and we both felt them all melt away as soon as we came together. Not to mention, the photos during this emotional exchange were priceless.

"Lisa did an amazing job capturing our wedding. We didn't provide a shot list, and we got everything we wanted and more. She's truly an artist, and we'd recommend her a million times over."

Thank you Jillian and Joshua for allowing me to be a part of your special day!

Prospect House Wedding | Sydney + AC

Q: How did you meet?

A:  "AC and I met while working at a youth summer camp in the Texas hill country. A good mutual friend of ours though that we would get along well, and decided to play match maker. We began dating when we started at Texas A&M in the fall of 2012, and have been together ever since!"

Q:  Why did you choose Prospect House?

A:  "I (Sydney) am currently studying for my Masters of Architecture, and when I saw pictures of Prospect House I knew it was perfect for a modern, minimal hill country wedding! Where most brides have their "moment" with their wedding dress, I had mine with our venue. It was architectural perfection. (It also recently received an AIA Small Project Award and a Texas Architect Design Award). We wanted clean lines and a fresh, timeless feel for our wedding, so we did minimal colors (green and white) with accents of copper. Our florist Kelli from Sweetwater Stems created the most amazing romantic, fresh, clean, lush reception hall you've ever seen! We got so many compliments after the wedding on how unique but classic the space was, and we couldn't agree more."

Q:  What was your favorite part about the wedding day?

A:  "For both of us the dancing was a blast! Everyone got out on the dance floor and had so much fun with us; at one point AC was thrown in the air by his groomsmen, and more than a few glasses were broken.... the sign of a good time!

"Our wedding day was so fun and perfect, and we are so thankful to Lisa for making us feel comfortable, making sure we got the shots we wanted, and doing a good job of keeping everyone on track and on time!"

Prospect House Wedding | Theresa + Nick

Q:  How did you meet?

A: "We met the old-fashioned way, on Tinder. Theresa was new to Austin, while Nick was finishing up his doctorate program at UT. We decided to meet at a show at Hole in the Wall to make sure the other was as cool as they seemed in the virtual world. Our first "official" date involved a motorcycle ride to dinner on the East Side, immediately followed by a power outage that affected the restaurant and every other establishment in the neighborhood. So we headed to Backspace for dinner downtown and had a classy after-dinner drink at Don's Depot. Random detail - someone shouted that we made a cute couple as we rode through downtown, and another stranger left a candle on Nick's motorcycle while we were at Don's. If that's not a good omen, we don't know what is."

Q: Tell us about the wedding planning process.

A: "Even though it was still under construction when we were touring venues, we fell in love with Prospect House from the start. The minimalist design, clean lines, and bright natural light seemed like the perfect blank canvas for us to add colorful touches and personal details.  We had fun picking wildflowers in Dripping Springs in the first months after we got engaged - (we pressed them and later used them on the wedding programs), watercolor painting the table numbers, and learning calligraphy for the invitations...both of us have an artsy / handy side, so it was fun (and admittedly stressful at times) to have a hand in the details throughout the planning process!"

Q:  Tell us something funny about the two of you.

A:  "You wouldn't know it by looking at us, but we're really fast walkers."

Q:  What was your favorite part of the day?

A:  "Saying our vows! The wind blowing, the clouds were rolling in above us, the rain was just beginning to sprinkle. Couldn't have asked for a more epic moment."
